Children are precious, they are God’s gifts to our lives. Here in Jubilee Christian Church, we are fortunate to watch many of God’s children grow. We place great emphasis on the dedication of children. It is the first step in bringing your child into the knowledge of Christ.

What is Baby Dedication?

A Baby Dedication is a ceremonial commitment, in which, believing families submit their newborn children unto the will of God. Parents, families and friends vow to raise the child according to God’s Word and God’s ways. It is also an opportunity for a child to be officially received into the body of Christ. The officiating ministers and the congregation prays for the baby, anointing the child in front of the Church. It is the parent’s responsibility to teach and train the child in God’s Word, demonstrate Godliness, discipline and pray earnestly for their child.

An Example of Baby Dedication in Scripture

And she (Hannah) made a vow, saying, “O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” 1 Samuel 1:11(NIV)

When God answered Hannah’s prayer by giving her a son, she remembered her vow: “As surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there. 1 Samuel 1:26-28 (NIV)

And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. Luke 2:21-24 (KJV)

What to Do

Baby Dedication is on the first and third Sunday of each month. Prior to the select Sunday’s, parents need to call the Church office at 919-484-0707 to make the arrangement. After arrangement is made, submit a picture of the child to info@jubileenc.org, and place in the subject box “Baby Dedication Photo (insert Child’s Name). Please include your name in the body of the email with suggested date for dedication.

We encourage parents to use the opportunity of a baby dedication to invite friends and family to celebrate this joyous occasion.
