Baby Dedication

Children are precious; they are God’s gifts to our lives. Here in Jubilee Christian Church, we are very fortunate to be blessed with a lot of them. Our congregation is a growing, dynamic and vibrant one and because of this we place important emphasis on children dedication as a the first step to bring a child in the knowledge of Christ
What is Baby Dedication?
A Baby Dedication is a ceremony in which believing parents, and sometimes entire families, make a commitment before the Lord to submit a child to God’s will and to raise that child according to God’s Word and God’s ways. It is also an opportunity for a child to be officially received into the body of Christ. The officiating ministers and the congregation pray for the baby and is also anointed in front of the Church.

Responsibilities Involved in Baby Dedication
Christian parents who dedicate a child are making a promise to the Lord to do everything within their power to raise the child in a godly way, prayerfully until he or she can make a decision on his or her own to follow God. Parents who make this vow of commitment are instructed to raise the child in the ways of God, and not according to their own ways. Some of the responsibilities include teaching and training the child in God’s Word, demonstrating an example of godliness, disciplining according to God’s ways, and praying earnestly for the child.

An Example of Baby Dedication in Scripture
And she (Hannah) made a vow, saying, “O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” 1 Samuel 1:11(NIV)
When God answered Hannah’s prayer by giving her a son, she remembered her vow: “As surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there. 1 Samuel 1:26-28 (NIV)

Luke 2:21-24 (KJV)
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

What to Do
Here in Jubilee, the first and the third Sunday is officially dedicated for parents to bring their newborn for the dedication ceremony. Prior to this Sunday, the parents are expected to call the office @ 919-484-0707 to make the arrangement and send in a picture of the baby.

We encourage parents to use the opportunity of a baby dedication to invite friends and family from the community and colleagues at work to celebrate this joyous occasion with the
